Made by Canadians
In the 1920s and 1930s, Canada was the second largest producer of cars in the world, behind the United States. At the time, 97% of cars sold in Canada were made in Canada, however most of the cars used American parts. With the signing of the Auto Pact in 1965, American and Canadian car manufacturing became more closely aligned. Canada’s car and part manufacturing sector expanded and became this country’s most important industry, surpassing even pulp and paper.
