Flypast is intended for the home and school markets, and encompasses the comprehensive information on its world-renowned collection of aircraft found in the National Aviation Museum's on-line Silver Dart Electronic Encyclopedia. It takes the user on a tour of the Museum's collection and provides detailed information on Canada's aviation heritage. Through the use of some 1200 pages of text, more than 600 photos, over 40 minutes of video, and a selection of about 40 audio clips, it covers in detail 110 aircraft in the Museum's collection. A narrated interactive section allows for an in-depth exploration of Canada's aviation history, including rare film footage. Information on the National Aviation Museum as well as on other aviation collections in Canada is included. Each disc contains both the English and French versions. In total, there are more than 630 megabytes of information stored on the disc.
Flypast operates on both Mac and PC platforms. At the present time, the CD-ROM is available for CAD$49.95 at the Museum boutique, Aéronautica (613-990-4340), the boutiques of the National Museum of Science and Technology, and through the regular distributor, the National Film Board of Canada (NFB). It can be ordered by calling 1800-267-7710, or writing to the NFB at P.O. Box 6100, Station Centre-ville, Montreal, Quebec H3C 3H5.
