Summer Activities

Enjoy unique and captivating activities all summer long. From rabbit care to bread making to afternoon milking and ice cream making, there is a daily demonstration sure to please everyone.

Tally-Ho wagon rides ($)

Take a horse-drawn wagon ride through the Central Experimental Farm. Friday to Sunday, including Monday of long weekends. (Weather permitting.)

Thursday September 26 at 7:00 p.m.

Curious about canning and preserving food? Join Chef Emerie Brine from Bernardin at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum while he demonstrates how simple and easy it is to preserve tomatoes, cucumbers, and make your own salsa at home. Ask the expert and pick up tricks to help preserve fresh fruit and vegetables for the rest of the year.

Reservations required at 613-991-3053. $10 per person.
The presentation will be in English only with a bilingual Q & A.

Thanksgiving Weekend

October 12 to 14

At this time of year, many Canadian farms are harvesting the food crops that will sustain us throughout the year. More and more, these same farms are also producing energy from sources such as the sun, wind, or crops. Come to the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum this Thanksgiving weekend and explore how energy is harvested. Participate in special demonstrations and activities, and make a unique craft! See renewable energy in action at the Museum’s outdoor exhibition, Energy Park: Nature at Work.

National Science and Technology Week

October 18 to 27

National Science and Technology Week at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum means unique demonstrations on-site, highlighting the uses of science and technology in agriculture, Enjoy demos of Windmills: Wind at work and The Science Behind Milk Safety.

A Barnyard Halloween

October 26 and 27

The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum presents its annual Barnyard Halloween Party! The whole family can enjoy a trick-or-treat scavenger hunt through the barns, fun games, and a costume parade around the Museum grounds. Make tasty treats in the demonstration kitchen. Decorate your own pumpkin to take home with you this Halloween ($).

A Barnyard Bazaar

Saturday, November 30

Visit the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum on Saturday, November 30 for a uniquely barnyard bazaar! Hand-crafted items and local food products will be on sale as you visit the animal barns.

Annual Canada Agriculture and Food Museum Food Drive

December 1st to December 31st, 2013

We need your help! Come by the museum to visit the animal barns with your donation and help us to be a heavy weight in this year's food drive. The collected goods will be distributed to the Ottawa Food Bank and Moisson Outaouais.

Celebrate the season with agricultural holiday activities at the Farm.
