August: Luciana the Holstein Cow

Hello! My name is Luciana and, like 93% of dairy cows in Canada, I’m a Holstein. In December 2012, I calved, or gave birth, for the first time. Over the next 10 months, I will produce approximately 9,000 litres of milk. To produce all that milk, I need to eat at least 18 kilograms of feed and drink 100 litres of water every day. That’s more than a bathtub!
