We are honoured to recognize the efforts of the late Art Wahlroth, a dedicated volunteer and donor who passed away on August 10 2009 at the age of 94. Art’s aviation career began under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan during the early 1940s, followed by two operational tours on Wellington bombers over occupied Europe and the Middle East.
Art flew a Spitfire at Rockcliffe on experimental photographic duties in 1944, one of three Spitfires to be operated from the station at that time. After post-war experience as a bush pilot and a second career as a Doctor of Optometry, Art joined the Museum as a volunteer in 1996.
