Classic Air Rallye on August 26 and 27 2006

Ottawa—Flightworks Inc and the Canada Aviation Museum, are hosting a unique two day event at Rockcliffe, Ottawa - showcasing vintage aircraft in airworthy condition. Re-creating that golden era of flying between the Wars, the innovation during the Second World War itself and the peacetime years after, the Classic Air Rallye is the place for everyone who enjoys flight. Biplanes, amphibians, barnstormers and gliders are featured, providing an intriguing contrast with the nostalgic roar of the Hawker Sea Fury, Spitfire and Hurricane.

The aircraft lineup is filled with the unusual as well as the legendary - from Wacos to Seabees, from the Max Holste Broussard to a Junkers Stuka replica. There are aircraft like the Beech Expeditor that revolutionised the aviation industry in their day, and rarely seen former Chinese trainers like the Nanchang CJ-6 (Yak-18). Stroll through the static aircraft lines and study them all at close quarters. You could find crews happy to chat with you. Make sure you visit the concessions where everything from aviation artists to pizza-makers will be available. Parking is free and OC Transpo is available at the Museum main entrance.

In addition, the Classic Car Exhibition will be located beside the main gates. Those of you on a nostalgia trip will have a chance to see again dozens of classic and vintage vehicles that were so often the wonder of their day. Other attractions include fighter cockpits to climb in, and military re-enactors. A successful show will result in support for CHEO and the Project North Star.

There will be a Media Pre-Show day on Thursday 24 August.

The 2006 Classic Air Rallye promises to be the best vintage air show held in Ottawa yet. For the most complete information regarding the Rallye and its programs visit www.flightworks.ca or call Ben Loiselle at 613-829-2203.
