A Flying Salute with the Centralaires at the Canada Aviation Museum

Ottawa—On Sunday May 31, the Canada Aviation Museum will host the Centralaires Concert Band’s last performance of this amazing fifth season. This 60-minute concert entitled “A Flying Salute” will feature popular military and parade music along with special guest signer Mary Frances Simpson, star of stage, television and radio. The concert will take place nestled among the aircraft of the collection and start at 2pm. Seating is limited so come early and enjoy a walk browsing through the magnificent collection of timeless aircraft.

As a special treat Sunday is Air Force Family Day. In celebration of the centennial of powered flight, the Officers’ Mess will be offering a variety of activities from crafts and simulators to a chance to sit in a real CF-18 cockpit. The fun is open to all visitors.

New at the Museum in 2009: Admission for Canadian Veterans is FREE, a small token of gratitude for the selfless contribution that they have made to their country. Be sure to ask about the fourth Annual Tour of Duty Gala – Celebrating 100 Years of Flight to be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009. It will be the grand finale of an exceptional year at the Canada Aviation Museum. The proceeds of the gala will be used to fit up the new wing at the Canada Aviation Museum for students and visitors with special needs and support the operations at the Perley and Rideau Veterans' Health Centre.

The Canada Aviation Museum is Canada=s finest aviation museum with an internationally renowned aeronautical collection. The Museum, one of the three National Museums of the Canada Science and Technology Museum Corporation, is located at the intersection of Aviation and Rockcliffe Parkways, just 10 minutes from Parliament Hill.
