From the Ground Up! allows your group to enjoy an evening of activities and workshops. This program can be tailored to suit your needs, including curriculum objectives, and scouting and guiding badges.

Typical Schedule

Please note that the times can vary depending on your time of arrival and the activities may vary based on the age group and/or the season.

  1. 6:00 Arrival (no meal selected); Welcoming and general rules
  2. 6:15 Interactive presentations, demonstrations and workshops on a variety of themes including Lighter-than-Air, The Body in Flight, Taking Off, and At the Control of the Cessna 150.
  3. 8:15 Break; snack (*) – optional
  4. 8:30 General Guided Tour of the Museum in the dark using flashlights
  5. 9:30 Departure

Please make your reservation at least three weeks in advance by calling 613 993-4264 or click on the Reserve button to fill out an online reservation request. Please allow a minimum of 48 hours for our response. Upon receiving your reservation request, we will send you a confirmation letter. Please bring this confirmation letter with you on the day of your visit.

The Museum educator assigned to your group will call you before your visit to review the details of your scheduled program. Let us know of any special needs, such as learning or physical disabilities, and vocabulary and language levels. Please note that this information will allow us to better prepare for and meet your needs. In consultation with the community, we have developed a special approach for visually impaired students. The Museum is fully wheelchair accessible.

Program fees are generally charged at a per person rate and include taxes. A minimum fee per group will be charged, depending on the program. Payment may be made in advance or on arrival by cash, credit card, debit, or cheque made payable to the Canada Aviation and Space Museum.

Cancellation Fees

A cancellation fee of $80 per program will be charged for cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled date of the program. For a program cancelled with more than 48 hours notice, a $20 administration fee will apply, unless the program is rescheduled within the same school year. In the case of bus cancellation due to inclement weather, this fee will not apply if a group reschedules the cancelled program within the same school year.

So what is a Night at the Museum really like? Our displays don’t walk and talk, but the Museum will definitely come to life with interactive demonstrations and workshops, a guided tour by flashlight and more. All sleepovers are fully customizable to your needs, call 613-991-3053 to arrange an evening.

Things to Bring

We recommend that all participants bring the following items. Please note that we discourage the use of inflatable sleeping mats, and that the Museum does not have shower facilities available.

  • Pyjamas
  • Hand towel & soap
  • Flashlight

Typical Schedule

Every evening is slightly different, depending on the ages and priorities of participants. Generally, we start shortly after 6 p.m. with a welcome message, then move quickly into a series of age-appropriate workshops and demonstrations. Snack time is usually around 8 p.m., followed by a tour of the Museum by flashlight and a campfire if requested. Movies start after everyone is set for the night (typically between 9:30 and 10 p.m., although for younger groups or groups with mixed ages, we alter the schedule for an earlier end to the evening).

Wake-up time is 7 a.m., and latest pickup time is 9 a.m.

Night Flight is part of the Museum’s Next Generation Program, sponsored by Pratt & Whitney Canada.
