Part 2: Instruments for Electronic Music Studios
The Spectrogram
The Spectrogram used light sensitive controls to generate sounds from diagrams fed through the instrument. (National Library) |
The Spectrogram (860006), 1959-1962, used a moving roll of graph paper to control a bank of oscillators, or the output of the Multi-Track. The sections of the paper that had been darkened by ink would trigger a light sensitive switch to turn on the related sound generator automatically.
