Reaching for the sky : summer camps participants link up with International Space Station astronauts

OTTAWA, August 8, 2012 – Participants of the Canada Science and Technology Museum's summer camps (CSTM) will quite literally have a conversation that is out of this world when they link up via amateur radio with astronauts on board the International Space Station tomorrow.

Through the Amateur Radio on the International Space Station program (ARISS), the CSTM's summer camps participants will have the rare opportunity to communicate directly with astronauts onboard the International Space Station. The astronauts will answer camp participants' various questions, which will be broadcast from the CSTM's auditorium, while the answers will be beamed down from Earth orbit.

The event is open to camp participants and their parents, as well as interested media, but not to the general public. It will begin at 2 p.m., with the amateur radio broadcast set to begin at 2:39 p.m. sharp.
