Franklin expedition exhibits media preview

OTTAWA, October 21, 2014 – Members of the media are invited to preview exhibitions celebrating the recent discovery of the Franklin Expedition’s flagship HMS Erebus.

Two media previews will be taking place in the Library and Archives Canada (LAC) entrance hall and at the Canadian Museum of Nature (CMN).

The Canada Science and Technology Museum of Canada (CSTM) will be presenting an updated version of its Echoes in the Ice: the Search for Franklin’s Ship in the LAC entrance hall. Visitors will be able to see rare books from the LAC collection containing rare sketches by an artist who accompanied explorer John Franklin for some of his Arctic expeditions.

The CMN will be showcasing 29 artefacts from the final resting place of a number of members of the ill-fated Franklin exhibition on King William Island, which the Government of Nunavut has entrusted to the CMN.
