Become a junior scientist. Make a star finder, a sundial or a stethoscope and take it home to enjoy.

Kitchen Science

1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Make “magic” mud, have fun with cabbage juice and launch your own antacid rocket! Explore neat experiments that turn your kitchen into a chemistry lab.

The Amazing Chemistry Show

Come one come all for this chemistry extravaganza. Presenters from the Chemical Institute of Canada will amaze you with a show chock-full of dazzling experiments.

Passage – Documentary Film Screening

October 16 and 17
1 p.m.

Filmmaker John Walker brings to life the incredible story of John Rae who, in 1854, uncovered the fate of British explorer Sir John Franklin and his crew of 128 men who had perished in the Arctic during an ill-fated attempt to discover the Northwest Passage. After this special screening, visit the Museum’s newest exhibition on the same topic, Echoes in the Ice: History, Mystery, and Frozen Corpses.

Stop-Motion Animation Workshop

Get creative and learn fun animation tricks from National Film Board of Canada facilitators during National Science and Technology Week at the Museum. Learn about the exciting world of animation and experience it first-hand with professional workshop facilitators. From storyboard to building your own plasticine characters, come and animate your own story frame by frame. $5 per person. Spaces are limited.
