Special Location: Kingston, Ontario (Murney Tower at King St. and Barrie St.)
Join in this spectacular astronomical event, as the Moon eclipses the Sun. The Canada Science and Technology Museum will be on-site in Kingston with Queen's University and the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada with telescopes, eclipse glasses and safe viewing equipment to see this rare event.
Join us as of 5:00 p.m. on the waterfront at King St. and Barrie St. to partake in outdoor astronomy activities for the whole family and enjoy romantic waterfront views of the setting Sun. The eclipse begins at 5:37 p.m. until the Sun sets, weather permitting, dress warmly.
Stargazing
Stargazers of all ages enjoy an evening of astronomy at the Museum’s Helen Sawyer Hogg Observatory. Weather permitting, visitors can look through the historic 15-inch telescope at the stars, the planets, and the Moon.
This program is free with donation. Your generosity helps the Museum maintain the Helen Sawyer Hogg Observatory and the astronomy programs.

International Astronomy Day Celebration
Family Astronomy Workshops
These activities are still being offered even if the Museum is closed. Activities will take place in the Helen Sawyer Hogg Observatory and a classroom that is separate from main Museum building.
Designed for kids ages 6 to 12, these hands-on family workshops feature take-home crafts. Each workshop offers new discovery activities to encourage children’s exploration of the world of astronomy.
