This exhibition shows how print car advertisements say much more than the make, model, and price of the vehicles in question. In fact, they sell more than just a car. The website reproduces automobile advertisements dating from the 1900’s to the 1980’s. The advertisements reproduced on the site are a small part of the museum’s De Bondt Collection, which contains approximately 10,000 automobile advertisements dating from the 1900s to the 1980s. A car enthusiast, De Bondt was an avid collector of Canadian automobile advertisements and freelanced as a writer and automobile historian. This online exhibition was produced by graduate students from Carleton University’s Masters in Public History Program in association with the Canada Science and Technology Museum.
