Canada Agriculture Museum honoured at 2012 Excellence Awards Gala

OTTAWA, April 26, 2012 – The Canada Agriculture Museum (CAgM) was honoured to be awarded a prize by the Regroupement des gens d’affaires de la Capitale nationale (RGA).

At the event that took place on the evening of Saturday, April 21, the Museum was awarded the Prix Coup de cœur de bâtisseur communautaire, in recognition of its community involvement.

“It is a great honour for us to see our entire team’s efforts recognized by an organization as prestigious as the Regroupement des gens d’affaires de la région de la Capitale nationale,” said Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation CEO Denise Amyot. “I want to thank the employees of the CAgM as well as our volunteers to have worked towards developing such strong roots within our community. This prize proves their remarkable efforts have indeed been noticed within the community.”

Among the various examples of community involvement that earned the CAgM this honour, it is worth noting that the Museum’s participation to various food drives have resulted in more than one ton of food given to the Ottawa food banks and Moisson Outaouais. Moreover, through its “Baskets with Panache” and “Fill-a-Bus” fundraising programs, whose proceeds go to the Youth Fund, more than 12,000 youths who would otherwise not have had the opportunity were able to take part in the Museum’s summer camps and school programs.
