Food for Thought – On a Sunlit Path

February 25, 2016 — The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum hosts the fourth lecture in its Food For Thought lecture series, entitled “On a Sunlit Path,” on Saturday, February 27, 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., in the Museum’s Learning Centre.

Dr Joan E. Haysom, Senior Research Associate at the University of Ottawa’s SUNLAB solar energy research group, explores solar technology from a Canadian perspective.

Solar technology has achieved significant cost reductions and, relied upon across more and more provinces and territories as a legitimate source of grid energy, now accounts for about 1% of global electricity production. What are the long term possibilities? What technologies will get us there? What are the advantages and the challenges of solar generation? This public lecture assembles some of the most recent analyses and trends on these important questions.

This lecture series is part of the Museum’s initiative to offer interesting, engaging, and fun food literacy programming for all ages.

The next lecture, entitled “Fatty Brain — The Impact of Lipids on Neurodegenerative Disease,” takes place Saturday, April 16, 2016.
