Come celebrate Thanksgiving at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum

OTTAWA, October 9, 2013 – As nature prepares for its Winter rest, and the last of the year’s harvest is being tucked away, come join us at the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum for one of the most fun week-ends of the year : Thanksgiving!

Can you tell different apple types from each other just by looking, smelling, or touching them? Take part in one of the many delicious food challenges taking place at the CAFM to find out how much you really know about apples, or learn new seasonal recipes in the demo kitchen. You may also want to take home some local produce offered for sale on site while you visit.

If you feel like rolling up your sleeves, you can also operate the apple press by taking part in the apple cider making and tasting activities. Other fascinating farm machinery will be on demonstration. Can you tell a discbine from a tedder? A rake from a baler? Did you ever wonder how a grain elevator works, or how the cream gets separated from the milk? You’ll know for sure if you visit the CAFM over this Thanksgiving week-end.
