Visit the Museum

Camera Use

The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum welcomes visitors to take either still or video images of the Museum’s animals, buildings, exhibitions, and grounds during opening hours. All photography is for personal use only, not professional.

Please be respectful of the animals while using your camera. Getting too close or being too aggressive in your attempt to get an image could compromise your safety and cause stress to the animals. For safety reasons and for the enjoyment of all visitors, all indoor photography or video must be done with hand-held devices only; no tripods or selfie sticks indoors.

Please ensure that your photography activities respect the needs, privacy, and safety of visitors, staff, and volunteers. Your activities must not distract staff or volunteers from their primary duties. Please do not take images of other visitors or of Museum staff or volunteers. Photographing visiting schoolchildren and day camp participants is not permitted at any time.

Please remember that the Museum is a working farm. Please be mindful of safety and understand that seasonal weather conditions can impact your visit and photography.

Photography guidelines

Handheld cameras, video cameras, and camera phones are welcomed in all public indoor and outdoor spaces, subject to the following:

  • Photographs and videos are for personal use only and may not be sold or used for any form of promotion, information campaigns or propaganda unless consent has been explicitly granted in writing by Ingenium – Canada’s Museums of Science and Innovation. Failure to request consent for such activities may result in legal action.
  • Selfie sticks and tripods are allowed in outdoor spaces only. Selfie sticks and tripods are not allowed inside.
  • Please maintain a safe distance and regard for all animals, machinery, and visitors.
  • Please do not take images of visitors who are not in your party, or images of Museum staff or volunteers.
  • Photographing visiting schoolchildren and day camp participants is not permitted at any time.

The Canada Agriculture and Food Museum reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to withhold and/or withdraw permission from visitors to take images on its premises if such activity is a disruption to other visitors, staff, or volunteers, and/or is perceived to possibly compromise privacy and/or safety.

The Museum is not responsible for loss of, theft of, or damage to your camera or any other property.

Professional filming and photography on Museum property are permitted only by obtaining permission in advance from the Museum. Failure to request such permission may result in legal action.
