The Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation and SE3D Interactive team up to develop more exciting mobile apps

OTTAWA, May 8, 2015 – Following on the successful launch of the Ace Academy mobile app featuring the Canada Aviation and Space Museum’s (CASM) rich collection of unique First World War aircraft, the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation (CSTMC) and developer SE3D Interactive have agreed to a partnership to develop more exciting apps featuring riveting museum content.

The partnership focuses on the use of games for mobile devices and digital narratives to deliver compelling museum content and spark Canadians’ interest – particularly young Canadians’. Three new mobile apps are expected to result from this renewed partnership which will unfold throughout 2015. Following on the heels of Ace Academy, a new app will allow users to experience a series of First World War missions. Another mobile app for the CASM, this time on the theme of space exploration. Finally a new farm-themed mobile app will be developed for the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum (CAFM).

“We feel privileged and impressed that the CSTMC shares our passion and belief in gamification and interactive content as a vehicle for learning and entertainment said SE3D Interactive’s Director of Product Innovation, Daniel Stopnicki. This opportunity has empowered us to fuse historical curation with digital narrative in an exciting new way. Ace Academy has proven the potential of these digital media by reaching people and nations far outside of our expectations. These upcoming projects will continue to showcase Canada's leading innovation in the development and delivery of digital content.”

“We enthusiastically welcome this continued partnership with SE3D Interactive to develop additional mobile apps which help make our unique collection accessible in new ways to Canadians throughout the country, and indeed throughout the world, as was the case with the resounding success of the Ace Academy app,” said CSTMC CEO Alex Benay. “Developing apps such as these represents one of the many efforts we are deploying to transform ourselves into a truly digital organization.”
