Reproduction Policy, Terms and Conditions

The use of reproductions created or provided by the Canada Science and Technology Museum is subject to the following terms and conditions.

Credit

Images shall be credited to the Canada Science and Technology Museum in English or French, as appropriate. The credit lines are as follows:

Non-Commercial Use

Students, teachers, and others may take images from the Canada Science and Technology Museum website and image banks free of charge for use in assignments, at school, and on personal non-profit websites. All images must be credited to the Museum in English or French, as appropriate.

Reproduction of other materials (such as drawings and photographs) for non-profit use is subject to reproduction and handling fees. Please consult the list of Reproduction Fees.

Permission is for one-time use only.

Note that non-commercial users may not reproduce, or permit others to reproduce, images or other materials from the Canada Science and Technology Museum without the express written consent of the Museum.

Commercial Use

Reproductions created or provided by the Canada Science and Technology Museum may not be used for commercial purposes without the express written consent of the Museum.

Reproductions created or provided by the Canada Science and Technology Museum for commercial purposes are subject to reproduction, handling, and user fees. Please consult the list of Reproduction Fees.

Permission is for one-time use only.

Images shall be reproduced in their entirety and shall not be altered in any way that could affect their historical or artistic integrity, without the express written permission of the Canada Science and Technology Museum.

Note that commercial users may not reproduce, or permit others to reproduce, images or other materials from the Canada Science and Technology Museum without the express written consent of the Museum.

Where images from the Canada Science and Technology Museum have been used in the production of a commercial item (such as a book or video), the Museum requests that one copy of the item be sent to the Museum free of charge.

No Endorsement

Reproductions created or provided by the Canada Science and Technology Museum shall not be used in such a way as to imply that the Museum endorses any commercial product or enterprise.

Reproductions created or provided by the Canada Science and Technology Museum shall not be used or accompanied by text that in any way implies the Museum’s agreement with, or endorsement of, any opinions expressed in association with the reproductions, or that in any way implies the Museum confirms the accuracy of any statements made.

Copyright

The creation of reproductions by the Canada Science and Technology Museum is governed by the Copyright Act of Canada.

The Museum may refuse to copy items at its sole discretion, if the Museum believes that reproduction would contravene the Copyright Act.

Under certain circumstances (for example, research), the Canada Science and Technology Museum may be able to reproduce items for which it does not hold the legal copyright.

In such cases, neither the act of reproduction nor the payment of user fees should be taken to represent the granting of copyright permission.

It is the responsibility of the user to ascertain applicable copyright restrictions, to identify any copyright holders, and to pay any copyright or licensing fees that may apply.
