Who will be the 20 millionth visitor at the Canada Science and Technology Museum?

OTTAWA, August 1st, 2013 – Sometime over the next few days, the Canada Science and Technology Museum (CSTM) will welcome its 20 millionth visitors since its opening in 1967. This milestone underlines the strong tradition of quality visitor experience and interactive science discovery, a predecessor to the development of numerous science centers from coast to coast. Since its opening the museum has presented hallmark exhibition features such as the Locomotive Hall and the Crazy kitchen to the delight of many generations of visitors.

This means the CSTM will have welcomed roughly the equivalent of the entire population of Canada at the time of its inauguration in 1967. In order to celebrate this important milestone in the CSTM’s history, the 20 millionth visitor will be rewarded with gifts worthy of such a historical moment : a free one-year membership to the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation’s museums (which also includes the Canada Aviation and space Museum, and the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum), a free behind-the-scenes guided tour of the collection reserve, free admission to the Star Wars : Identities exhibition, as well as a $200 gift certificate for the CSTM’s Scientique boutique.

Although it is impossible to predict exactly when the 20 millionth visitor will enter the CSTM, management estimates – based on previous years’ average attendance figures – that the lucky visitor should enter the museum in the coming 5 to 7 days, or maybe earlier should attendance be higher than expected. Members of the public are therefore invited to try their luck at living a historic moment and winning wonderful prizes by visiting the CSTM soon!
