The New Canada Science and Technology Museum

Renewing the beloved Canada Science and Technology Museum

The renewed, modern museum, set to open on November 17, 2017, will continue to promote and celebrate Canada’s long history of scientific and technological achievements, and inspire future innovation.

When the Museum reopens, it will feature over 7,400 m2 (80,000 sq. ft.) of redesigned exhibition space, including an 850 m2 (9,200 sq. ft.) temporary exhibition hall to accommodate travelling exhibitions from around the world.

The Museum will have 11 exhibitions:

  • Artifact Alley
  • Children’s Gallery
  • From Earth to Us
  • Into the Great Outdoors
  • Steam: A World in Motion
  • Sound by Design
  • Wearable Tech
  • Technology in Our Lives
  • Medical Sensations
  • Hidden Worlds
  • Crazy Kitchen +

To better showcase the collection, Artifact Alley will introduce Augmented Reality to Museum visitors. Visitor favourite the Crazy Kitchen will be part of the renewed Museum, as well as a demonstration stage, classrooms, and Exploratek maker studio.

“When the Museum reopens, it will offer an entirely new, immersive visitor experience, including 11 completely redesigned exhibitions, a demo stage, and more artifacts on view than ever before. From old favourites like the cherished locomotives and Crazy Kitchen to new favourites like the Children's Gallery and the Exploratek maker studio, there's something for everyone.”
