Dear Ellie,

I am still in Winnipeg, waiting for my trip to begin - only a few days now! Last night your aunt, uncle and I went to Fort Garry and watched an Indian snake dance. This was a site to behold! My interest in Indians is great, as you well know, and I very much wanted to talk to them. The snake dance was originally a war dance, but has been sped up and made into a contest.

Love,

James

She opened it carefully, and unfolded the letter. The page had grown yellow, but the ink was still dark. She began to read.
