Prepare to spend a fascinating holiday season as Canada blasts off

OTTAWA, December 19, 2012 – Just in time for Holiday season, Canada Space Agency astronaut Chris Hadfield has taken off aboard the Soyuz spacecraft towards the International Space Station, of which he will assume command starting in March, 2013.

In honour of the fascinating adventure which awaits astronaut and Commander Hadfield, the Canada Aviation and space Museum (CASM) has chosen "Canada Blasts Off!" as the theme of its holiday programming.

Among the holiday season's special activities, visitors will be invited tolearn more about the International Space Station. Crafts and trivia games about the Station will be sure to stimulate participants' curiosity and creativity.

As part of the "Zoom to the Moon" activities, participants will listen to a cool story, put on a space suit, climb aboard a "Space box" and blast off before docking at the International Space Station.

For the holiday period from December 26 to January 6, the CASM will be open every day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The CASM will be closed on December 25.
