Museums join forces to present STAR WARS™ Identities party - Next 'Nature Nocturne' to feature hit sci-fi pop culture theme

OTTAWA, July 9, 2013—Calling all Jedi, Star Wars™ fans, and people who love to have a good time. The Canadian Museum of Nature (CMN) and Canada Aviation and Space Museum (CASM) are joining forces to present a Star Wars - themed Nature Nocturne party on Friday, August 9. The event combines two hot offerings in Ottawa – the STAR WARS™ Identities blockbuster exhibition currently on view at CASM until September 2nd – and the CMN's popular Friday night parties for adults.

"The Star Wars Identities exhibit has been the talk of the town all around the National Capital Region," says Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation Acting President and CEO Fernand Proulx. "We are extremely happy to work with the Canadian Museum of Nature to bring the Star Wars universe at such an innovative and dynamic venue as the Nature Nocturne."

Produced by X3 Productions and made possible by Lucasfilm Ltd., the STAR WARS Identities exhibition is a sensational event that explores the amazing nature of human identity through the magic of the Star Wars universe and its legendary characters. Its presentation at CASM until September 2nd, 2013 will be the last opportunity to see the exhibition in North America.

"We're thrilled to collaborate with the Canada Aviation and Space Museum on this exciting event," says Meg Beckel, CMN President and CEO. "We had originally planned a summer break for Nature Nocturne after its amazing début in January and successful first four evenings. The considerable public enthusiasm for a summer Nocturne, and this wonderful opportunity to link with the STAR WARS Identities exhibition, is undeniably a winning combination."

The August 9 Nature Nocturne will take place from 9:00 PM to 1:00 AM at the CMN, which is located at 240 McLeod Street in Ottawa.

Tickets are $20 each (tax included) and do not include food and beverages, which will be sold separately.

About Star Wars
The May 25, 1977 theatrical debut of Star Wars – on a scant 32 screens across America – was destined to change the face of cinema forever. An instant classic and an unparalleled box office success, it was equal parts fairy tale, western, 1930s serial and special effects extravaganza, with roots in mythologies from cultures around the world. From the mind of visionary writer/director George Lucas, the epic space fantasy introduced the mystical Force into the cultural vocabulary, as well as iconic characters such as evil Darth Vader, idealistic Luke Skywalker, feisty Princess Leia, lovable scoundrel Han Solo and wise Obi-Wan Kenobi. Since its 1977 debut, Star Wars has continued to grow, its lush narrative expanding from modest beginnings into an epic, six-film Saga chronicling the fall and redemption of The Chosen One, Anakin Skywalker.
